Would you choose or like to live next to a live fracking site?
Would you choose or like to live next to a live fracking site?
Why are the environmental and economic risks of this rush towards fracking seen as more acceptable than wind farms and solar roofing / highways?
Considering the following:
Water usage and contamination.
Freshwater usage 50 percent of is lost from the local water cycle for potentially thousands of years. The other 50 percent will need expensive cleaning to get rid of the radioactivity and toxicity. Both coal and nuclear re use most of the water which can also be sea water.
Industrialisation of natural beauty 1000s of wells and trucks.1000s of compressed stations and flares.
Methane is a key greenhouse gas it's not just about co2 emissions.
Looking at case studies in America where people and livestock where harmed by the fumes and wastewater spills and illegal dumping.
Incompetence of all involved in externalising risks / accidents.
Historical data coming from America on health risks.
Air / ground / noise / light. Pollution from flares / compressor stations see dish Texas.
Effect on property prices and house insurance on houses nearby.
Best practice / gold plated regulations are an unpleasant joke vs reality... See deep water horizon and piper alpha for gold plated regulations and wilful incompetence / dismissal of health and safety in particular lord Brownes tarnished record when he worked at BP.
Industrialisation of domestic, agricultural and national parks?

Lord Browne of cuadrilla ex BP chief adviser to the government on fracking policy.
Lord Browne- The former BP boss is chairman of Cuadrilla, which is exploring for shale gas in Lancashire and West Sussex. He is lead "non-executive
" across Government, meaning that he helps recruit other non-executives to Whitehall.
Baroness Hogg - The non-executive for the Treasury sits on the board of BG Group, which has significant shale gas assets in the United States.
Sam Laidlaw - The non-executive to the Transport Department is also chief executive of British Gas owner Centrica, which recently bought a 25 per cent stake in Cuadrilla's most promising shale gas prospect.
Ben Moxham. A former executive at BP when Lord Browne was at the helm, he followed the peer to Riverstone Holdings, which owns 42 per cent of Cuadrilla. Moxham was energy adviser at No 10 but quit in May.
Lord Howell - George Osborne's father-in-law is also president of the British Institute of Economics, whose backers include BP and BG Group.

I don't understand why there isn't a bigger push on investment in renewables rather than the Ponzi scheme that is fracking.

I just don't understand how risking drinking water and destroying property prices is in anyway helpful.
All I see is ignorant polticians blinded by greed on this issue.
See Erin brokovitch a thoughts on fracking and the potential for millions of pounds of liabilities.

Water management is going to be key. Clean water will be blue gold.
More water reservoirs are needed anyway as a matter of urgency to cope with years of low rainfall.
Flood protection and water management are going to be key with rising sea levels and defences needed.
It makes me very angry the lack of respect towards the electorate to even push through this agenda of stupidity, ignorance and greed.
Tidal power could be an option. I am very concerned about future water supply versus population even without the INSANITY of fracking.
Wilful Ignorance is not a good enough defense.
