Why are the environmental and economic risks of this rush towards fracking seen as more acceptable than wind farms and solar roofing / highways?
Considering the following:
Water usage and contamination.
Freshwater usage 50 percent of is lost from the local water cycle for potentially thousands of years. The other 50 percent will need expensive cleaning to get rid of the radioactivity and toxicity. Both coal and nuclear re use most of the water which can also be sea water.
Industrialisation of natural beauty 1000s of wells and trucks.1000s of compressed stations and flares.
Methane is a key greenhouse gas it's not just about co2 emissions.
Looking at case studies in America where people and livestock where harmed by the fumes and wastewater spills and illegal dumping.
Incompetence of all involved in externalising risks / accidents.
Historical data coming from America on health risks.
Air / ground / noise / light. Pollution from flares / compressor stations see dish Texas.
Effect on property prices and house insurance on houses nearby.
Best practice / gold plated regulations are an unpleasant joke vs reality... See deep water horizon and piper alpha for gold plated regulations and wilful incompetence / dismissal of health and safety in particular lord Brownes tarnished record when he worked at BP.

More water reservoirs are needed anyway as a matter of urgency to cope with years of low rainfall.
Flood protection and water management are going to be key with rising sea levels and defences needed.
It makes me very angry the lack of respect towards the electorate to even push through this agenda of stupidity, ignorance and greed.
Tidal power could be an option. I am very concerned about future water supply versus population even without the INSANITY of fracking.
Wilful Ignorance is not a good enough defense.

The one show bbc
Just watched the one show bbc, gentle complacent slightly pro spin...My biggest complaint is that The bbc need to go to america and talk to residents who live with fracking... Who sold their rigs for short term gain. If they cannot be bothered to do that then they should talk to people who have gone there like the maker of gasland or check out youtube ... Thats not too hard or expensive ...The lack of proper balance or depth of research.
